September 26-28, 2010 and September 28 - Oct. 1, 2010. Craig Williamson will Teach Two Classes at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health

Sitting, Standing, Walking: Creating New Body Pathway
This course takes a new look at what you’ve been doing for most of your life — sitting, standing and walking. These ordinary activities are in the “background” of your attention, but they are not separate from who you are. Postural habits, tension, and dim kinesthetic awareness can make your background movement less than graceful, cause pain, and separate you from the pleasant experience of being embodied. This course will involve exercises and techniques for the feet, legs, core, and spine. It will help you to sit without back pain, sense your innate standing alignment, walk more with your bones and less with your muscles, use your feet the way they were designed to be used, and understand your body alignment, including the lumbar curve, the psoas muscle, and hara.

Williamson Muscular Retraining: Introduction for Bodywork Practitioners and Yoga Teachers
Are you looking for more of a whole-person approach to your bodywork practice or teaching? Imagine actively engaging in a dialog with the kinesthetic awareness of your clients and students, while teaching them to clearly sense how they unconsciously hold on to tension. This is the essence of Williamson Muscular Retraining. This 3-day workshop will primarily focus on the waist and pelvis — the center of the body. Included will be myofascial and neuromuscular techniques, body alignment principles and instruction, identification of dysfunctional movement patterns, and verbal and non-verbal dialog for improving kinesthetic awareness.

January 25-29, 2009. Craig Williamson Muscular Retraining for Pain-Free Living Workshop at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health

If you're looking for an innovative way to eliminate persistent muscular pain, then Pain-Free Living Through Muscular Retraining is for you. The class will use a combination of muscular retraining exercises and alignment techniques—done on the floor, sitting, standing, and walking—to improve your mind/body awareness. You will learn how to move with ease and carry yourself with poise, while discovering practical tools for pain-free living. By the end of this 5-day course you will be able to:
- Release muscle contractions and change movement patterns that are limiting your flexibility and/or causing pain.
- Feel exactly how the “core” muscles affect your alignment, movement, and carriage.
- More clearly sense the support of gravity as you breathe, sit, stand, and move.
- Use your kinesthetic and spatial awareness to relax more deeply.
Come explore the painless and natural way your body is meant to move.
